DCM Systematic SA (“DCM Systematic”) is an independent, quantitative investment manager based in Geneva, Switzerland. Established in 2014, we use innovative data research and systematic decision-making tools to seek to identify different potential sources of alpha returns. While we base our process on robust and rigorous statistical techniques, we strive to be agile enough to adapt our models and methods in a timely manner. We work hard to avoid what we believe to be the herd mentality that drives much alternative investing. In doing so, we aim to take advantage of opportunities that we believe may be overlooked by others.
The identification of alpha opportunities is inherently uncertain and depends on market assumptions, data quality, and execution; correlations may change and increase over time, particularly during stressed market conditions; non-trend approaches may lead to possible losses of principal, particularly when market trends persist.
Our ambition is to be a key player in the systematic space. We aim to achieve this by targeting uncorrelated absolute returns, even though these targets may not be met, and by building strong, lasting relationships with our clients through open, frequent communication. We want them to be able to question us on our processes and understand our thinking. When markets change or whenever we adapt our models, we inform our clients of these changes and the reasons for them.
We believe that the best path to seeking alpha relies upon the ability to think independently. We launched DCM Systematic precisely to allow original and even unusual ideas to find an expression within a financial portfolio. Rather than following other market participants into predictable, crowded positions, we seek to identify uncorrelated sources of return.
Seeking alpha opportunities is inherently uncertain and depends on market assumptions, data quality, and execution, which is why there can be no guarantee of profit and loss of capital may occur.
Not only are we different in the way we manage money, but we are also different in the way we manage our company. At DCM Systematic, we favor a flat organization where employees work together and call upon collaborative technologies to share information; we encourage ceaseless adaptive learning to constantly improve our research and investment process. In particular, we continually seek to improve the understanding of the data that drives our investment decisions.
We see ourselves as scientists who research facts within the world of finance; we believe that applying a systematic investment approach can potentially deliver more consistent outcomes than one based on subjective judgments.
In a world awash with information and ways to analyze it, we also call upon our experience to narrow down and focus our research on areas where we consider that data bears a connection to the real world. We believe that approaching the markets in this way and understanding the rationale behind the data gives us an edge in finding profitable investment opportunities. We research these opportunities and apply robust statistical techniques to test them and translate them into workable systematic strategies.
We place our research at the core of DCM Systematic, a process that continuously evolves, which, we believe, is an important element towards successfully navigating rapidly changing markets.
We are committed to developing rigorous data research and systematic decision tools, applying them in a way that avoids the crowd, and using them to add value to our clients’ portfolios. As evidence of this commitment, the Principals jointly own 100% of DCM Systematic’s share capital and have, in addition, invested in the Diversified Alpha strategy alongside other employees.
At DCM Systematic, we believe that our strength lies in the range and variety of talents among our team. Each member brings a specific blend of skills, experience, and dedication to their role, contributing to our collective success and the quality of the service that we provide to our clients. Research, collaboration, information sharing, learning and teaching, and a flat organizational chart, among others, all define DCM Systematic’s corporate culture.
We are proud to introduce the people behind DCM Systematic’s growth story.
